On the occasion of the group exhibition Ice Cream Crush* with jewellery created by ten Bulgarian designers presented at Munich Jewellery Week 2017, we introduce you to the participants:
On the style of your work:
Simplification. Clean lines without pressure, lightness with attention to the detail. This is my motif in everything I do.
Share an aspect of your project you are particularly proud of:
This particular collection is not new and has been around for several years now. But it has become my signature brand. I have been easily recognised through it, which is quite flattering. But i’m also trying to develop it constantly in different directions through forms, colours and functionality.
Preferred materials of work:
I’m working predominantly with porcelain, by combining it with rubber, textile, metal and other. I prefer alternative materials. My latest project is a provocation to enter into a collaboration with another designer – Evgeniya Tsancova. The results are quite nice. This joint collection is called BLICK and comprises mainly of brooches. Overall we have used two materials for its making – porcelain and cotton rope, and the main accent is put on the bright neon colour, where the name is derived.
Favourite design object or concept jeweller:
I have an affinity to interior design and a soft spot for lamps and chairs. I truly wish we become more conscious consumers and swap quantity with quality. Recently I enjoy observing people’s attitude towards design and it daily use. And also follow what brands, which are dedicated to producing affordable design, are interested in, like HAY, MUUTO, NORMAN COPENHAGEN, TOM DIXON.
Professional related expectations from Munich Jewellery Week 2017:
Munich Jewellery Week is among the most respected and well recognised non-commercial events in Europe. And I could even dare say it is a quite free podium specialised in presenting contemporary jewellery makers and galleries. As an author I expect good feedback, inspiring experience, meeting old friends and making new acquaintances.
